Design Features
The Body Solid GFID225 is a compact adjustable bench with a high weight capacity. The bench offers a variety of incline settings and has a well-padded back support. The back support is tapered, with an 8” narrower section on top which progresses to 9.5” at the bottom where it meets the seat. The bench provides greater freedom of motion in your shoulders and back while doing pec flys and pressing exercises. The bench also provides extra back support to reduce strain on you lumbar region when you are lifting.
The GFID225 is made of 2″ x 3″ oval tubing frame that is strong and guarantees your stability when you are pressing heavier weights. You can be sure the bottom won’t out thanks to the 2.5” padding on the seat and back support.
The bench also has transport wheels on the rear base stabilizer. You can easily roll the Body Solid bench inside a power cage. You can also roll it between the uprights of a squat rack when you want to do barbell exercises.
The Body Solid GFID225 has seven adjustment positions, which make it more versatile than the BFFID10. The adjustment positions allow you to fully develop the muscles on the upper body by working them from various angles, including incline and flat.
Fully Assembled
You can’t use a weight bench if it’s not assembled. The GFID225 comes fully assembled. If you are not the technical guy, you’ll be happy with this bench. Simply unpack it and start your exercises.
Seat and Incline
The GFID225 is particularly well set up for decline work. The bench can be adjusted for incline, decline and flat positions when you are using dumbbells. There is a gap between the back support and seat which is acceptable and provided adequate support.
Materials
The Body Solid GFID225 is made from high quality solid materials, which are surprisingly not heavy. The steel tubing make the bench last long and the transport wheels make it easy to move around. You will feel the commercial quality materials in this home weight bench that has an excellent design.

Exercise Options
The Body Solid GFID225 bench can be used for a variety of exercise options for both upper and lower muscle groups. You can work out these exercise options without having to use the bench in a power cage or squat rack.
Lower Body Exercises:
This Body Solid bench does not come with a leg developer attachment. Therefore, you cannot do the same range of leg exercises like you would with a bench like the GFID31, which is an upgrade of the GFID225.
However, if you have a single set of adjustable dumbbells or perhaps fixed weight dumbbells, you can still train your calves, hamstrings, glutes and quads using the bench. You can build strength and endurance in your quads with the need for heavy weight using this bench. To accomplish this, you simply need to do elevated single-leg dumbbell squats with one foot resting behind you on the bench.
To train the calves, you can sit on the bench and rest dumbbells on your knees to perform seated calf raises. To work out the hamstrings, use stiff-legged deadlifts, which don’t involve the bench at all.
Upper Body Exercises:
The GFID225 is specially designed for upper body exercises. However, like is the case with lower body workouts, you will need a set of dumbbells to carry out the exercises.
The exercise options you can do with the GFID225 include;
- Skull crushes
- Ab crunches
- Shoulder press
- Tricep kickbacks
- Bench dips
- Incline hammer curls
- Seated shrugs
- Lateral raises
- Dumbbell row
- Pull overs
- Incline dumbbell press
- Pec fly
Attachment Options
One of the downsides of the Body Solid GFID225 is that it is not compatible with optional attachments. This limits the variety of exercises that you can do with it. If you would like a Body Solid bench that work with optional attachments, you can check the GFID71, which can be fitted with a lat pulldown system, leg developer or preacher curl station.
The type of equipment you currently have and the space you have available should help you decide which weigh bench is right for you.
If space is not an issue and you can afford the budget, we certainly recommend you go with an advanced Body Solid bench like the GFID71 rather than the GFID225. We recommend the GFID771 because it has a higher weight capacity (1000lbs), offers a wider range of exercise options and has a quick and easy ladder style of back support adjustment.
However, if you are looking for a more affordable Body Solid bench, we definitely recommend the GFID225. This bench can be stored in a closet or under the bed after a workout. Moreover, the bench is great if you will mainly be training using dumbbells.
Body Solid GFID225 Warranty
This bench is sold with a lifetime in-home warranty.

Body Solid GFID25 Review Rating
The seven adjustment options and tapering seat and back support that provide a range of motions when exercising, the GFID225 weight bench will confidently support you when lifting heavier weights.
The lifetime in-house warranty of the bench is a plus for a bench of this price range. Moving the bench is easy thanks to the transport wheels. The bench is also an excellent accessory for free weight dumbbell workouts as well as doing barbell workouts in squat racks.
Overall, the Body Solid GFID225 is a great folding weight bench thanks to its adjustment settings, high build quality, high frame strength and long warranty. The only downside is that it does not allow some form of attachment for a wide choice of lower body exercises.
